No More Smelly Candidates With Video Interviewing! #WEBINAR

KD and I are back at it – we’re doing an upcoming webinar on Wednesday May 23rd at 1pm EST (click here to register).  We have a lot of fun with these – we get to check out some very cool stuff in HR – and we get to channel our inner Oprah at the same time!   For this recent webinar we are partnering with HireVue ,  who has made Video interviewing so simple even your Mom could do it – I’m not joking – it’s that’s easy!

I love the concept of using video to screen and interview candidates – Why? Because I’ve been in Corporate HR positions where way too much of my budget money went to flying in candidates who showed up and sucked or smelled… or worst!  It seemed like every time I went to fly someone in, I was playing Russian Roulette with my hiring managers.  About 4 years ago I got my first taste of video interviewing (old school style) and I’ve been hooked ever since!  It might be the most perfect tool for HR Pros – which 99% of us aren’t using!   And you aren’t using it because you think it’s too hard to get off the ground – well it’s not – and Kris and I will help navigate you through all of this in our snarky-helpful way.  We’ve been where you are now – HR Pro with little resources, little time and little ability to set the time on our own VCR!

Besides video interviewing and screening – we decided there are probably a number of other things you can do with video in your HR Shop as well – so we came up with a list of 5 things we want to show you – which you can do – by yourself – with video for your organization!  Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy!  Here’s the list:

1. Interviewing and Screening (my Favorite!)

2. Recruiting

3. Employment Branding

4. Manager Role Playing

5. Training Shorts (my 2nd fav!)

Sign up today and for everyone who registers – we’ll give you a “How To” Guide of how to get started with Video in your HR Shop – it’s valued as Priceless! (Because we made it and it’s certified FOT Style!).

So – Here’s what I know about Video and HR:

  • You can do it – HR Pro who can’t set your clock on your VCR!
  • Your Hiring Managers will LOVE it – beyond anything you’ve done in a long time in HR!
  • You’ll be viewed differently – dare I say “strategic” – in your organization!

We look forward to having you come over and learn at little, laugh a little and overall make it the most productive 60 minutes of your week.

In a perfect world, video interviews would be a great tool. We do not live in a perfect world and some HR and Staffing people will allow their personal prejudices get in the way. It’s human nature and with the added technology video interviews afford, now a candidate can be rejected with even more ease.

However, in order for this to work somewhat well, I am hoping that there are some corporate checks and balances which also include tracking all candidates who are hired vs. those who have been rejected. I would also like to see best practices put into place so that all candidates are interviewed the same way. Yeah, this requires training but I strongly believe that this helps more than hurts.
