Kris Dunn asks Are Middle-Aged White Guys Capable of Understanding Diversity Efforts?

Deep topic. I'm going to Zag while the others Zig and say yes.  Of course, I'm not qualified to answer this question.

If you took me to court on my stance, I'd play this video clip – Stone Temple Pilots from House of Blues in Vegas. Watch the clip and meet me after the jump (email subscribers click through for video):

Kris Dunn
Kris Dunn is Chief Human Resources Officer at Kinetix and a blogger at The HR Capitalist and the Founder and Executive Editor of Fistful of Talent. That makes him a career VP of HR, a blogger, a dad and a hoops junkie, the order of which changes based on his mood. Tweet him @kris_dunn. Oh, and in case you hadn't heard the good word, he's also jumped into the RPO game as part owner of a rising shop out of ATL, Kinetix. I say yes. It’s discounted, though, because I’m white. Because I’m white and male, I have no idea what it would be like to be discriminated against. Because I’m white and male I have no idea on how to run effective training and development programs. Because I’m white and male I have no idea on how to select great diverse talent for my organization. Because I’m white and male I have no idea on how to build an inclusive environment. You see being white and male makes me only want to choose other white males to be around me at all times. Being white and male precludes me from understanding the plight of others. What most people don’t understand is that science has proven only females, minorities or people with disabilities have the ability to understand diversity – it’s a genetic thing. There is nothing I can do about it. Being white and male is always going to make me feel being white and male is good, and everything else is bad. There’s nothing I can do about it – I was born this way…

White male, over 40 (but I clearly look 38ish).
