Kris and I are thrilled to be speaking at the 14th Annual Illinois HR Conference & Exposition. The
first time we ever shared a stage, someone asked me how I felt about being Gen Y in an aging HR industry.
I looked at Kris and said, “Did you hear that, old man? I’m Gen Y.”
Yeah, we like to have a little fun up there.
Our session, The 9 Faces of HR, should be fun. We use the concepts of a 9-box grid and brand personae to create a framework that allows us to discuss talent, performance and knowledge in the HR space.
(What’s a 9-Box grid? Here’s a refresher. What’s a brand persona? Take a look at this information. Don’t worry, though. We will explain everything when we see you in Oakbrook because we lovingly and humbly built our keynote for you.)
Do you want to know the nine faces of HR? Okay, here they are.
- The Mall Security Guard
- The Cop
- The Judge
- The Clerk
- The Grinder (not Grindr)
- The Mentor
- The Rookie
- The Assassin
I think it is pretty audacious to tell HR people that they fit into one of nine categories, which is why I jumped all over the chance to present this model with Kris. It may be a one-time only event. We will see how this goes.
And while some of this might feel like astrology, Kris and I will talk about the science behind behavioral assessments and how brand personae can be used to develop an effective HR organization.
(For what it’s worth, I am a Capricorn. And I consider myself to be an assassin who cuts through corporate nonsense with a samurai sword.)
Anyway, I promise our little adventure won’t be boring. In fact — let’s get this started. Leave a note in the comments. Who do you think you are right now? Just based on the titles? Let’s chat about it in the comments…
I hope to see you at the 14th Annual Illinois HR Conference & Exposition. And if you can’t make it, Kris and I will be sharing more information about this model in the upcoming months!
